Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsens Sister Gets Bit By Acting Bug
Seeing triple? The acting gene sure does run in the Olsen family. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s little sister, known as Lizzie in their childhood video series’, is all grown up and making a name for herself as Elizabeth Olsen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elizabeth will star alongside Hugh Dancy in the indie drama ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene.’ She will play a young woman living with her older sister (Sarah Paulson) after breaking free from a cult. Paulson’s husband will be played by Dancy. Elizabeth can also be seen in ‘Peace, Love & Misunderstanding’ with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Catherine Keener, Chace Crawford, and Jane Fonda.[Read full story on The Insider]

Usher’s VMA-Nominated ‘OMG’ Inspired By ’80s Sci-Fi Character
Director Anthony Mandler wanted to let R&B superstar take viewers ‘on a journey, not a ride.’By Jayson Rodriguez

For a video as forward-thinking as Usher’s “OMG” — with its laser beams and light flashes — director Anthony Mandler actually looked back for inspiration.
“The original idea was kind of Max Headroom,” Mandler told MTV News, citing the animated science-fiction character from ’80s British TV. “That’s where it came from — the TV flickering on and there’s this character. We just wanted to bring it up to date.”
“Max Headroom was always in his room,” he continued, “this unidentifiable room, ’80s shapes. I used that for inspiration.”
The formula worked: “OMG” is among the Best Male Video nominees for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The clip is up against Drake’s “Find Your Love,” Jason Derülo’s “In My Head,” Eminem’s “Not Afraid” and B.o.B’s “Airplanes.” Mandler is a multiple nominee, having also helmed Drake’s video.
“OMG” is the first time Usher and Mandler — who has worked with Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna — collaborated on a project.
Usher said he knew the video would be a challenge and wanted to make sure the director was up to the task.
“When I first shot the song to him, I was like, ‘Are you sure you’re gonna be able to catch this one?’ And he said, ‘I got it,’ ” Usher explained.
“We wanted to bring Will.I.Am (the song’s producer) into my world,” he continued. “Obviously, the international sound and look and feel has already been set, but we wanted to do something theatrical, fun and energetic to show us working off of each other and playing off of each other as artists, but the cinematography would be artistic and incredible.”
Mandler described the visuals as “Hitchcock-ian.” Though the style of the shot was important to the director, he had a simpler goal in mind: to capture Usher in his element. He said the key to the clip was simply letting Usher’s talent take over.
“The concept was to create a world where we put Usher in a space where he does what I think he does better than anyone else in the world, which is perform at a level and magnitude of a superstar and take us, the viewer, whether audible or visually, on a journey, not a ride,” the director said. “And, in that, I wanted to create an unpredictability, so one set leads to another and another, and you never know what’s gonna happen. Along the way, Usher becomes our guide. We’re so focused on him, we don’t notice the change. The thing is unfolding little by little, and you can’t quite see far enough ahead to know what’s gonna come next.”
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12. The party starts with MTV News’ VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET. The Best Songs That Are Inspired By Movies
Usually when I talk about music around these parts, it’s with an eye on the movies. But even though most of my inspirations come from movies — with the music as a vital, but supporting player — today I thought I would try to do things a little differently. Which is why today is all about music that was inspired by the movies.
Pop music is littered with movie references, and sometimes the references are a little more obscure, as is the case with the genesis of Bob Seger’s classic Night Moves. Legend has it that the idea for the song was born as Seger walked out of the theater for George Lucas’ American Graffiti and he realized that he had his own stories of a misspent youth to share. But other inspirations can be a little more obvious, like with Jay Z’s tribute to Frank Lucas and American Gangster with his album of the same name.

DJ Khaled is in the production stage of his upcoming LP, We the Best Forever. He has beats cooking every night in the We the Best studio in Miami. But while most of the people he wants on this project already have solid relationships with the mogul DJ, there is one MC he’s never met — nor done a song with — and he needs him to be a part of the movement.
“The list goes on and on,” Khaled said after rattling off some of the names of his past collaborators, including Kanye West, Jay-Z, the Birdman, Lil Wayne, T.I. and Akon. “This album I’m working with them boys again. It’s gonna get bigger and bigger. The collaboration I want to make happen and the people want to make happen is a DJ Khaled/ Eminem collaboration. I know if I get with Eminem and put him on one of my anthems … ’cause I make these anthems. I got something so special in my drive that for Eminem on there.”
He added that if Em doesn’t want to team up off the strength of Khaled’s track record alone, then he should do it for hip-hop.
“We’re doing it for hip-hop. We doing this for hip-hop,” Khaled told MTV News emphatically. ‘I’m a big fan of his. I don’t have a way to contact him. I don’t know how I can sit down and play him some music; whatever I gotta do. Eminem, I got love. I wanna make this crazy record with you. Let’s make history. Let’s rip the streets apart. I got the idea already [that] I wanna do with Slim Shady. I got the beat right now, so crazy, the concept. It’s something the people are gonna love too. If I get Slim Shady on this joint, I’mma tear up the streets.
“The album is called We The Best Forever. There’s only certain people who could be on this album,” he said. “It’s time, I think I deserve it. The streets deserve it. When [Eminem] meets me personally, he’s gonna see this energy. He’s gonna understand why these anthems come out like that. I’m gonna sit with him, and we gonna vibe. I know what he’s gonna do: He’s gonna go crazy!”
Khaled recently signed a recording deal with his good friends Birdman and Slim, the CEOs of Cash Money Records.
“I’m so excited about life, making music, excited to put my album out on Cash Money. I’ve always been excited to make music and make these hits. This album is coming out crazy already and I’m excited. All my albums, me personally, I feel they’re super-big and classic. Every year I have one big record that’s huge, anthemic.”

The mother of murdered British schoolgirl Scarlett Keeling broke down in tears yesterday as she visited the beach in Goa where her daughter’s body was discovered.
Fiona MacKeown, who is giving evidence today at the trial of the alleged killers, spoke out bitterly to the Daily Mail after it emerged that her 15-year-old daughter suffered 50 separate injuries in the attack in 2008.
All but five of these were missed in the original post mortem.
Details of the extensive nature of Scarlett’s wounds, which covered large areas of her head and body, were found in a second post mortem and are listed in police files seen by the Mail.
It is the first time Mrs MacKeown has returned to Goa since she campaigned for the Indian authorities to open a murder inquiry.
She said: ‘The police treated me with no respect. They wanted to protect the apparent idyllic life in Goa and a murder inquiry would expose its seedy underbelly.
‘These files show how poorly the police and the original pathologist acted.
‘They show how much corruption goes on in the police. No professional should have missed all those injuries.
‘I could see many of them with my own eyes when I had to identify the body. It has made it much harder to get justice but I’m still hopeful.’
The second examination, only carried out after Mrs MacKeown, 46, spent weeks campaigning for the death to be reinvestigated, paints a vastly different picture from the first.
Then, Dr Silvano Sapeco recorded only five external injuries. In a brief summary, he concluded that Scarlett had drowned accidentally and failed to suggest she might have been held under water by her attackers.
Three doctors concluded that she was held underwater for ‘five to 10 minutes’ after being ‘rendered senseless and defenceless by alcohol or drugs’.
They also said she may have been raped. Scarlett, of Bideford, Devon, was staying with her 25-year-old Goan boyfriend while her mother travelled around India when she was killed.
Samson D’Souza, 30, and Placido Carvalho, 42, are on trial for her murder and rape.
The pair, who are both on bail, deny culpable homicide, sexual assault, outraging modesty and destroying evidence.
